For efficient and powerful progress, the C 200 CDI and C 220 CDI have undergone numerous technical enhancements and now deliver even more power and significantly more torque. The oil spray nozzles were enlarged to improve piston cooling. And also thanks to an optimised oil supply to the friction bearings the C 200 CDI now develops 100 kW (136 hp) and the C 220 CDI has an output of 125 kW (170 hp). In addition, metal glow plugs have been replaced in both engines by ceramic ones which are able to attain higher temperatures for improved cold-running properties. The diesel engines are also equipped as standard with a particulate filter[1].
The C 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is also available. That’s good for the environment and your wallet: various weight-reduction measures and improvements in the aerodynamics were implemented to significantly reduce the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In addition, BlueEFFICIENCY models feature a shifting recommendation function to help optimise consumption.
C 200 CDI: fuel consumption combined: 5.7–6.7 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 149–171 g/km)[3]
C 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY: fuel consumption[2] combined: 5.1–5.4 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 135 g/km[3]
C 220 CDI: fuel consumption combined: 5.9–6.7 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 156–177 g/km)[3]
The C 320 CDI is fitted with a 6-cylinder powerplant with common-rail diesel technology. It accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds, producing 165 kW (224 hp). And its smooth-running characteristics courtesy of a balancer shaft turn this unit into one of the most impressive examples of advanced diesel technology.
(C 320 CDI: fuel consumption combined: 6.9–7.6 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 182–201 g/km)[3]
