Optimum pulling power and efficient consumption are the hallmarks which distinguish the CDI engines of the M-Class. They employ an optimised form of common-rail direct injection, which enhances their power delivery even further. In addition, they are fitted as standard with a particulate filter and can deliver maximum power with a minimum noise level.
The new BlueTEC® technology (currently available only in the US) further reduces pollutant emissions in exhaust gas. Through a catalytic chemical reaction, harmful nitrogen oxides are converted to nitrogen and water – yet another environmental argument that speaks for the CDI engines of the M-Class.
For exquisite 6-cylinder comfort you have a choice between two models: the ML 280 CDI delivers 140 kW (190 hp) with a maximum torque of 440 Nm, achieving a top speed of 205 km/h. The ML 320 CDI has an output of 165 kW (224 hp) and a maximum torque of 510 Nm. Its maximum speed: 215 km/h.
The ML 420 CDI is powered by a V8 diesel engine. It is characterised by its exceptionally precise fuel injection timing, which ensures that fuel is used in an optimum manner. With a power rating of 225 kW (306 hp) and a peak torque rating of 700 Nm, this unit delivers a combination of fuel economy and sports performance.
(ML 280 CDI: fuel consumption combined: 9.1–9.6 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 241–254 g/km; ML 320 CDI: fuel consumption combined: 9.3–9.6 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 245–254 g/km; ML 420 CDI: fuel consumption combined: 10.6–11.0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 279–292 g/km)[1]
