Legends are made over decades or centuries. Or in 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds. That's the record, still unbeaten, that Stirling Moss set in May 1955 for the Mille Miglia from Brescia to Rome and back. He thundered over the finish line on the Piazza della Vittoria – at the wheel of the spectacular Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. It was a racing Roadster which dominated its era but was never built in a production version.
Now the SLR is returning to the road in its original form, as a Roadster. It’s just as open, dynamic and beautiful in form as its historical role model, built with the modern technology and know-how of Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren. It’s time for a new passion.
