The interior design is based on the interplay of convex and concave shapes, light and shade, edges and curves. A “horizontal muscle”, reflected in the curved shapes of the dashboard, door and tunnel trim, served as inspiration.
The R-Class designers followed their belief that if it looks good, it should feel good too, and the results are evident in the switches and controls with a soft-touch finish, the soft armrests and the aluminium and fine wood trim. The feel and the look are in perfect harmony here.
If you would like to apply your own individual design to the R-Class, you can opt for the two-tone interior design (see figures) as part of the optional extras. The interior equipment and appointments, which are distinguished by contrasts, provide a particularly harmonious overall impression which is also quite sporty.
The roof liner is in elegant black, while a light-coloured band colour-coordinated with the seats extends along the interior door panels and into the luggage compartment. The carpets in the footwells are in a contrasting, darker colour. This interior option is available in a combination of black/cashmere beige or black/alpaca grey, with a further choice between leather or nappa leather (in conjunction with the AMG interior sports package).
